Today is my sister Heather's Birthday!! Happy B-day to my smart and sensational sister! Snowboarding is on the way! Alas the incredibly gifted and inspirational author Michael Crichton has passed on after a bout with cancer. He died on November 5, 2008, but his legacy of innovative writing will live on forever. The man who grew up in Roslyn, New York used a tedious blend of scientific fact, theory, and imagination to come up with the great "Jurassic Park" (my personal favorite), "The Andromeda Strain", and many other great books that thrilled with outstanding edge-of-your-seat story. The novels pushed the boundaries of what could be considered true and blended the black and white borders of the unreal with the real until there was really only gray area left. The compelling stories were so detailed (the man graduated from Harvard Medical School - how's that for a little knowledge of science and fact) that you often wondered why some rich park tycoon was not expediting a ride alongside a live Triceratops somewhere right now. Dinosaur lover that I am, Crichton was truly inspirational to me. Growing up I went through a Michael Crichton phase in my early teens, after seeing the movie "Jurassic Park", and I consumed most of his books within a short span of maybe a year. He was one of the more gifted novelists of his day and like him, I strive to write novels that inform in such a suspenseful manner that you are nearly unaware of the knowledge you have gained. I still hold his "Lost World" as one island that I am destined to find along my many adventurous travels. There are new Words and Pictures in the POETRY Section, the RUNE WORKS Section and throughout the Site. Revamped words and visuals fuel the Creative Mind. Well television has had little to offer me for quite some time now, but one of the rare gems worth watching is "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles". The show all but ignores the third (and weakest) movie and falls into place right along with the great writing/story and fierce action of the franchise. The newest Sarah Connor and John are excellent choices, their acting has excellent depth, and the new good Terminator Cameron - played by the incredibly gorgeous Summer Glau - kicks major futuristic robot ass! The story follows a teenage John Connor becoming a man and future savior for mankind as he and his mother fight to prevent Judgement Day from ever happening. I know you have heard that plot-line before, but trust me the ever intensifying, twisting, and improvising writing give you everything and more to be desired from the innovative story. The Rumors are true: Rune Works Productions has indeed upgraded the entire system on the floor to Mac powered machines. The POETRY section continues to grow, as does the conclusion to my novel WAYS. There are also a couple of publications on the horizon that will be made public as soon as they become available, or at least until their code of silence can be broken. It is officially past the halfway mark through the semester. I have finally just completed the tasks at hand: a speech on the awful history of the Mets, tests in Communications and American Cinema, and a paper on the great John Keats for British Literature. I am also starting to address things that I have delayed for quite some time, including the long awaited novel's conclusion, and the next college search (more on that later). VICTORY: President Obama shall change the United States of America and rekindle hope. It is as though a revolution has begun! |
